time for a self service!

Post by Jonny4494 »

right guys, its time for a self service!

already got your opinions on what oil to use and know to use a OEM oil filter & washer.

but what spark plugs should i invest in? ive always bought denso iridiums for my cars in the past but what do you guys think?

and do you guys think its worth buying some magnecor HT leads to go with the new plugs?

cheers,
Jonny

I use NGK iridium plugs a bit cheaper than Denso, in terms of HT leads I'd use genuine OE Toyota. You may also want to replace the distributor cap and rotor arm at the same time, again I'd go with OE Toyota.

I just use normal NGK plugs which seem fine. BKR7ES I think they are.

With regards to leads, I've been told the genuine Toyota items are best. At the moment I'm using the set which got fitted when the car had it's engine rebuild. We fitted some attractive red Magnecor leads but I got really bad misfires last year and remedied it by fitting the genuine leads again.

Leave the leads unless you suspect they are giving you problems, Dont spend a fortune on iridium plugs as above BKR7E plugs are the ones to get and they are about 2 quid each.

Ah, yes sorry BKR7E not ES. They are cheap as chips. £7.95 a set on the bay when I bought my last ones.
