I took my car for aligment today, since it's a mk1a with mk1b rear suspension fitted it was way out of spec.
It's all set up correctly now but there's a whining noise coming from the right rear wheel that wasn't there before. There's nothing rubbing against the tyre and I can't find any play in the bearing. The axle nut is torqued and so are the wheel nuts.
Any ideas?

Have you checked the rear brake dust shields, they are quite flimsy, could have been pushed against the disk

When you say Mk1a fitted with Mk1b suspension, i presume you mean absolutely every Mk1b part was fitted? Even the rear subframes?

Yes, subframes, struts, springs, hubs, tie rods and ball joints.
