hi all as above im undertaking a wide arch kit build , me and a friend are doing all the work on the car so fingers crossed it will turn out ok
heres a few pics of the car before the start
it is a rev3 tubby in good shape heres a few pics of the kit i was missing a few bits of it sideskirts ,bootlid and petrol cap but have sourced all the parts now
so i got started and first parts to go on are the rear arches bonded and pop riveted
used starps and clamps to hold it tight in place as you can see from pics
ive found out that the kit is not perfect but is workable the rear arches hat to be filed down to fit it tight to the car at the petrol cap area, next is the back bumper to fit ,the be honest it lined up pretty good but it was a pain in the ass to get bolts in the rear arch to the bumper pop rivets would not hold
at this point i went and bought a set of wheels which im pretty happy with dont think ill need spacers if i do its only a few mil on the back
got to fitting the front end on done the wings first and tried to line up the front bumper but it was off line so what we had to do was fit the wing to the bumper off the car and fit it all as one it work well but i will have to shave a few mil off the passenger side of the bonnet about 5inches long
this is where im at now the sideskirts are next and they are way off some let the fun parts begin
Good I bonded the pass rear quarter on this weekend so I'm going to let it set til the weekend then I can fibreglass then blend it in then just the fuel flap and rear bumper to sort
My threads in my sig
Looking good and I love the wheels as well. Remember the devil is in the detail and it's the finishing which is the hard part, get that right and it'll look awesome.
I'm also building a TRD widebody (it seems like it's the fashion ) check out my build thread http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... 37&start=0
John.
The main problem i have is the kit is a very poor fit but i think filler can help me a littke bit
I got lucky with the wheels but i need some at this stage
This has some potential, although It doesn't look like you've cut out/modified the original acres before fitting the new ones over the top, any reason why not? Especially if you're planning on fitting big wheels?
