[All] [Generic] Original Owners

Post by DAN_REV1_TURBO »

Dont know why I found myself wondering about this but I did! Do we have anyone on the site who bought their MR2 from new and still has it now? Or failing that who has the longest MR2 ownership? Had my current MK2 Turbo less than a year but previous to that a N/A for 3 years.

Interesting post. I was the proud first UK owner of my G-Limited which I had for 3 years before I traded it in last summer for a turbo. In that time I clocked up nearly 50k miles.

Hey, turbo's are not that common.

My brother-in-law bought, in 1997, a red t-bar with full leather. He still has it and has said he will never sell it. It has just passed the 22,000 (twenty two thousand) mile mark.
It looks like it just came from the factory.

Cost was around £23k IIRC.

My friend whose brother owned a Toyota Dealership had the first AW11 in the country as a demonstrator. Thats what started my love of MR2s :-)

I purchased a '98 S reg T-Bar in red brand new. Had it for 3 years then sold it for 11K. The fond memories prompted me to buy another recently.

Still got the same rev1 so that's a total of 14.5 years ownership now and another 50k since my '08 post. Next service due in a few hundred miles will be the 234,000 mile routine one.

On a slight tangent, but what about, how many MR2's have you owned? I'm not an original owner, my current one is my longest owned (6 year) shell is off to scrappy tomorrow, but the new one is my 4th MR2 since 2003.

..the only thing I can promise for sure is slow progress.

May 2015
just have this niggling thought that if I rip out the wiring, then the car will never get out of the garage again.

Still in the garage...
