It's a M reg UK spec
will it fail MOT if I run a straight through exhaust?

and if not now, could it fail future MOTs as regulations change?

Any car declared new and first registered in the UK after August 1992 will need a cat to pass the emissions test.

As for noise levels, from an MOT point of view, it's down to the opinion of the tester.

All NAs after the 1992 need a cat for the MOT. Technically even if it passes the emissions test without a cat, there is a new clause in the MOT which makes it an instant failure for the cat to have been removed.

The loophole exists for imported turbos only, up to 1995.

You can also fail emissions i've found
