[Mk2] [Turbo] Turbocharging pressure sensor - code 35

Post by decker2 »

Hi folks,

I recently fitted an electronic boost controller, have a FCD fitted. In the process of setting it up but I have a re-occuring error code 35. (did manage to over boost at one point giving me codes 34 & 35)
Checked the input to the sensor - 5 volts as it should be.
I can reset the ecu (pulling the EFI fuse) and checking the error is cleared but it returns as soon as I start the car.
I'm thinking the sensor is fubar, would you agree?
Anyone got a spare one?

Thanks
Decker

Hi buddy, I'm quite interested in this topic at mo. I've just recently had fault code 34 - turbocharger pressure signal crop up after an over boost.

My rev 3 tubby is running a stock turbo on stock boost.

Been reading the online BGB workshop manual and obviously it tells me the troubled areas to check.

Be interested to know your experiences and if you had any useful tips?

Kind regards

Code 34 is turbo pressure overboost - Usually casued by over-boosting.

Code 35 is open or short circuit in turbo pressure sensor signal - Usually bad sensor or possibly wiring fault.

Thanks Peter I will proceed to check out the necessary troubled areas according to the BGB.

Yeah, mine turned out to be a wiring issue to do with the Fuel Cut Defender which was inexplicably located behind the driver's seat, moved it next to the ECU and soldered it in properly - problem solved

Thanks for your feedback buddy! :thumleft:

Hmm, that's interesting. I take it yours is an aftermarket fuel cut defender used for boost raising purposes? :-k

Yeah it is indeed, HKS Fuel Cut Defender, taps into the signal wire from the turbocharging (boost) sensor to the ecu, modifies the signal to change fuel cut from ~12 psi to ~17psi, in-conjunction with an electronic boost controller currently set to 14 psi.

Hi I have same issue I have developed misfire under load at the same time. The wiring is bit dodge for fcd last owner used scotch locks. Did your stock boost gauge rise to max when ignition was on.
