[Mk2] [Turbo] Actuator Question / Help

Post by CRAIGROBBO »

Hi All,

Right....

The 2 is currently running a CT20b with an aftermarket FORGE actuator of which is not working.

I have another new aftermarket Turbo Dynamics but dont have the correct end piece so i am going back and fitting the standard toyota actuator.

The standard actuator has x2 pipes coming from the top of the housing, My FORGE/Turbo Dynamics only have x1 connection from the top.

Do i only use one of the two standard conections on the toyota actuator and then blank one of them off??

The car is running a Gizzmo boost controller if this info helps?.

Any pics/info would be great thanks.

Best regards

Hi Craig

I assume that as you are running a CT20b then your car is at least a Rev3.
The two pipes are for the TVSV which bleeds off the pressure in the actuator to achieve a higher level of boost. If you blank 1 and run the other directly to the turbo you will only ever boost to 7psi. With the TVSV plumbed in correctly you should get 13PSi which makes a big difference.

The pipes for the TVSV are metal and start near the actuator and run around the side of the engine, the attach to the TVSV solenoid which is bolted underneath the inlet manifold.

If your not bothered about the TVSV you could just plumb your boost controller onto the 2nd pipe.

EDITED: due to accidentally talking out of my bottom! (apologies  )

I've never seen a Gizzmo boost controller before but my guess is that you leave the hose that goes from the compressor housing to the actuator alone and plumb the EBC onto the second pipe.
