Hey guys, I have an issue with rust in the arches, once fixed is there any reason I couldn't fit a plastic liner (like the one on the front wheels) To the back to prevent further rust? I understand nodding would be necessary

you nod at them all you like 
unless well fitted they might trap grime and silt from the road in places you dont want it so make the issue worse.
Id say get them done and keep the dirt free on the lip in the arch, if the moisture cannot sit anywhere it wont rust them out again

As Above ^ dont do that as Honda tried that to CRX's/Civics/Integra etc and they ALL rust on the sills and rear arches.
They trap too much grime and salt and it rusts quicker

i will say though that properly fitted it would be fine, all mk4 golfs have them on the rear and they dont suffer from rusty arches, the oldest ones being 15 years old now, but why go to the trouble when its not really needed
