Is it possible to change the diff with the gear box in the car, or is it just as easy to remove the box?

It looks possible but it would probably be easier to drop the box.
Sure Peter or Luke will be along to say how feasible it is in situ

Impossible.
Gearbox casing has to be removed which i doubt there is enough room to do.
Then diff preload will have to be checked and reset, which at best is a tricky and delicate job on the bench, let alone on it's side in the car.
Finally, like engines, gearboxes need to be built in splotlessy clean conditions. In an engine bay? I don't think so.
