Hi All,
Just curious really on the pro's & con's of having a BMIC and is it needed to run larger power levels? I.E 400bhp +.
I can start the Con's off.
No room for golf clubs in the boot....

Whats your power goals? Will you need a BMIC? Chargecooler might be smaller and take up less room in the boot or mounted in engine bay with some creative pipe work.

Yeah- but will never be as efficient as a fmic, although a fmic on an MR2 is not an easy solution. It's one of the reason charge coolers make so much sense for our cars- you get the benefit of the airflow hitting the front of the car, and a short inlet tract; the compromise is introducing more complexity and so potential for bits to fail.
It's all about compromise: for a bmic to work it needs to be huge and you need to cut up the back of the car to try and maximise flow through the core. With a cc system you add a bit of weight, and more moving parts but can keep your car more or less in tact.

It will be more than 300 rpm as you'll be running a larger turbo too. Why else would you go BMIC if not to run a bigger turbo? It would be much more cost effective to opt for water/methanol injection.
latest garrett gtx range, are very good, gtx28 not a massive turbo but will still push 450hp, older generations are the old school thinking of big power needs a mahoosive turbo
plus water/meth runs out where as an intercooler, no matter how inefficient, doesnt.
using meth only on a track car is fine but never on a road car that does any sort of milage.

I agree with that peter. but its such a small amount its not even worth mentioning, unless the designer is an idiot with the pipework! Iirc my BMIC setup's pipework is infact shorter than the stock pipework, defiantly will be by the time i have made some alterations to it, however given the fact the pipework is 3" the spool time on mine is probably about the same as stock pipework/uprated smic.
