double or triple a pillar pods and where to get them?

Post by l1ca »

I'm looking for a full a pillar replacement with either double or triple pods built in, not the smaller pod only mount which you scree into your existing pillar, looks really tacky IMO.

I've checked around and I can't seem to find anywhere that sells the complete a pillar unit. Any ideas?

Also what would we say the two / three most important gauges to buy would be?

1. Boost pressure (obv)
2. ?
3. ? If I do go for a triple pod

Thats great, thanks, why those gauges though? I understand monitoring your boot is important, but why the choice of oil temp and oil pressure? Why not water temperature etc?

(if these seem like daft questions, they probobly are, just want to understand why these are the most important)

As that's what your temp gauge on dash clocks measures..

Oil temp and oil pressure can destroy your engine if too high/low respectively

Sure, thanks for clarifying that, Im not that mechanically minded so just wanting to learn more about the who's whys and hows.

Unfortunately gotta ask stooooopid questions :)

As for the actual A Pillar Pod, anyone got any ideas on where to get one? otherwise im going to have to buy a screw in version, cut a hole in the original and fibreglass it all in.

Theres only one place...mr2eddy :thumleft:

You just need to decide 1,2,3 pods and what size 52mm or 60mm etc

Also state whether you need Tintop or t-bar

The Fit is VERY oem :thumleft:

I have the MR2 Eddy 2 gauge 52mm pillar pod in mine Julian and it is very OEM.

Independantly of comments given by the others and from personal experience, I chose oil pressure and oil temp as I know this would have helped me out in my early years. Recently, Shinny has saved an absolute fortune on 2 seperate events that has saved his engine as a result of having these 2 types of gauges. It's good to hear that the others echo this thought.

The only issue I can envisage is that a 3 gauge pod is quite obtrusive compared to the 2 gauge (so I'm told) so you may want to look at other locations that a single gauge would fit or even the dome light bracket that ReNow is selling. That also looks very OEM.

I too think the fit is very OEM & absolutely concur that the finish, grain and colour look stock and like it could have come like that from the factory

I previously had a 3 x 60mm t-bar pillar pod in my old rev5 and for me personally, the gauges were not too obtrusive, you were aware of them, and could be seen well, but then I had my seat adjusted to slope back in my seats

Also depends on the gauges you use too, I had Defi gauges in mine, so does scott barton IIRC :-k

Im not exactly tall, (5", 7 /8) so im thinking that the 3 gauge pod will be ok for me. But if I do go down the 2 pod route it'd be the 2 x oil in the pillars and the boost mounted elsewhere.

I had a three pillar pod in my GT-Four (st205) a while back and whilst it being noticeably there, it wasnt too in my face to bother me on long journeys. Now with the 2 being more sloped and driving style more laid back it could be even less of an issue.

But I am very interested in seeing the
dome light bracket that ReNow is selling

Do anyone have any pics of this? Preferably fitted.

Don't worry!

That's an old post!!

Mr2eddy is still producing the pillar pods AND the dash mount pods!

I think he did take a break from making them but due to demand from here and the US he went back into production on an individual order basis!

I've ordered from mr2eddy just last week!! \:D/

What gauges did you get? Im tempted by a set of Defis, but boy oh boy those bad boys are not cheap.

I had a 3 pod pillar of Eddy.

Quality is amazing and looks like Toyota themselves could have made it!!

I had Oil Temp, Oil Press and Boot in mine.

Bought some SAGA gauges of the dreaded EBAY. Think they were £220 for the 3. Probably not the best quality in the world but they do the job.
