If realistically it is going to be split down you may as well try a repair job yourself prior to that.You might be able to get it roadworthy again.
What have you got to loose if it doesn't work out; you'd have to split or sell the car which seems like a high possibility anyway.

Anything after September and before April and there is the possibility of salt/grit which absolutely ruins our cars

the stuff we get up here is so much worse than the salt used down south.

I wish the kit wasn't smoothed, would be much easier to fix what ever needs doing then!
