Thanks all :)

Definitely a complete contrast to Mule II  I won't even begin to list the things III could have been, possibly because they'll become IV, V, VI etc. Although Rob B knows pretty well as I've done nothing but chew his ear off about them for the past few weeks

Straight on the money :thumleft:

It's a Westfield SEI, which was built for racing and apparently still (or did up until recently) holds a couple of sprint records. It runs a heavily tuned 2l Fiat Twin Cam engine by Newark engines, Competition Vernier cams, Yamaha R1 carbs (correctly jetted, apparently) producing around 200bhp. Fiat five speed gearbox with great ratios, oil cooler, high ratio 2.4 rack, independent rear suspension, front wide track kit, anti roll bars front and rear, LSD, Federal RSR track day tyres, stainless steel bespoke headers and system, cable and hydraulic handbrake. Plumbed fire extinguisher, Digi Dash, msa isolator switch, push button start etc.

The drive back last night was awesome! Compete sensory overload, what with the wind, noise, exposure to everything around, small things hitting you (some painful! ) etc. I'd liken the sensation to seeing something in real life as opposed to watching it on it. You're right out there with the smells, temperature changes etc.

These things are so pointy to drive and the grip is insane! That old Fiat engine makes a great noise, a little like an old aeroplane, bags of torque too. Very much looking forward to getting it on a track, as that's the main reason I bought it.

Will it be the forever car? Probably not, as I'll eventually miss the brute power of a big power blown engine. When that happens I'll be on the prowl for Mule 4  Until then though it's all about Mule 3 :)

I'll get some good photos etc later when I get home. :thumleft:

here comes team Hatton !!!! Stephen or Bob will have a turbo on that in a jiffy Phil :D

Oh wow... ive only just spied the pictures. Ill be totally honest when I say that these kind of cars are not really my thing looks wise, but this has changed all that for me.. I genuinely haven't seen a westfield that looks this good. I can see why you bought this now.

Perfect colour for it too.

I knew as soon as I saw the photos though that you would be out lining up the filters :P

What a change and what a machine indeed. If I didnt live so far away id be begging for a ride or atleast a look in the flesh

I used to think exactly the same, until I put some thought into what I wanted from a car right now. Popped on a pair of rose tinted specs and here we are

If you do ever find yourself down this way you're more than welcome to come over :thumleft:

Seriously the car looks stunning the more I look into these the more I want one and relise what a good deal you got.

U will get out of this what everyone should get out of a sports car..and that its lots of fun to make it all worth while....long live the mule....

This topic is now a monster....theres enough material for a film script!

You're one of three people I know who have also decided they want one. Apologies to the banks of the nation for their losses

Where's the nearest track to us? :-k

Nottingham, about 20 minutes from Donington. Bruntingthorpe and Mallory are pretty close too :thumleft:

Sweet! Great choice Phil :thumleft:

That's going to be a lot of fun to drive on the public roads as well as being a pretty handy track weapon 8)

Totally left of centre though, felt sure you'd be unveiling a Porsche or something similar

Thanks Paul :)

For quite a while it was looking like being a 911, however after some thought I realised I don't want anything too serious right now, I just want to get in and enjoy. One day though, one day

People do rave about it as a circuit. Never been personally but plan to change that soon :)

I had a couple of hours free this morning before I have to head off to a wedding (not mine  ), so thought I'd grab some engine shots and a cheeky video. Turns out the mic of the camera doesn't like loud noises, so the audio isn't the best #-o

Slight improvement of alignment. Will have to do for now as I'm out of ties..

And a little bit of audio/video pleasure

looks very interesting and a lot of fun. 8v lampredi twincam engine you will be hearing a lot about guy croft now i suspect.

200hp is a bit optimistic, the 16 valve turbo this evolved into was 200hp.
the 8v turbo was 165-185hp,

although with the weight im sure it will be bloody quick either way \:D/

Very nice Phil. Looked at building one of these a few years ago bug lack of dry storage made me change my mind.
Epic cars though, about as close to driving a single seater as your going to get on the road for sensible money.
Look forward to seeing it in the flesh. ;)
