Looks really good Paul, think some clear rear indicators would finish the rear off a treat if only there was a way to do it.

Thanks for your help today, sorry for bothering you twice. This car is killing me.

Should be by the end of this week Pete, just MOT and final jobs to do, then a month of shakedowns before JAE.

It's either a wiring fault on the Yellow alternator wire, maybe where it runs throught the N1 connector, check that is not waterlogged etc.... after that it's an alternator issue.

The symptoms you describe can only occur when that Yellow wire is grounded, the alternator grounds it when it isn't running hence your lights come on with ignition on, and when running the alt throws 13.5-14.5v back up that yellow wire to the dash bulbs (battery and fan), so the alt is probably faulty or the wire is being artificially grounded elsewhere.

It's a problem with the database corruption we recently had. There's a post on this thread from a user account that was wiped out when the server crashed - the post still exists, so is still counted towards the total number of posts (which is used to calculate pages) but the forum won't display any posts that don't have an attached user when you're reading the thread, so the pagination count is out. So, it thinks there is a page 21 but when you take into account the posts that it can't display due to a lack of user there is not... if that makes sense!

Oh and I read this thread too

I'll be booking mine in August too :) as soon as engine is running with no issues it'll be straight to Kwik xxxx for an MOT :)

Did you rebuild your lump Paul and Pete? How many miles run are you giving it before first oil change?

Thanks Toxo, that makes sense.

Pete mine is 2pm on Friday.

Alex my 2gr engine has less than 10k miles on it from new, it's hardly run in for a V6 engine.

how much would you suggest for a rebuilt engine?

Only issue is, i'm not going to have much time between when car is taxed to JAE, so i'm only going to be able to cover 250 miles before travelling there.
