Just a quick one - any experience / input I'd be grateful for...
We've been replacing the control arms on my Rev 2 Turbo with newer polybushed arms. The rear left came off fine but the rear right has been a pig - the front subframe bolt is seized onto the subframe very badly. We managed to get the nut off with some persuasion but the bolt is still locked in place and refusing to budge.
I'm guessing the bolt's threads have locked onto the interior of the bush, which is acting as a secondary type of nut, and suspect the best solution is to burn off the bushes and heat the interior metal washers until they expand enough for the bolt to be freed. Does this sound like the most likely thing for the bolt to be seized on (and if so am I doing the right thing by setting fire to the old bushing), or is there an alternative cause I should be looking for?

Re: Removing rear control arm issue - seized bolt.
Using fire is what I'd be doing anyway
Re: Removing rear control arm issue - seized bolt.
If in doubt set it on fire. As much as i hate it when i come across a siezed bolt i embrace every opportunity possible to get the butane torch out.
Re: Removing rear control arm issue - seized bolt.
Thanks guys. This is the offending bolt. It's definitely caught on the arm / bushing and not the subframe. I've tried wiggling it through loosening & tightening etc, applying a bit of gentle persuasion with a hammer and so on but it seems to get so far and then the thread just locks on.
What's my best course of action? burning through the bushing or trying to cut the bolt with an angle grinder / dremil?

I had this exact same problem polybushing my car. He way I got round it was to cut the bolt using an air saw.

Cheers for this. Any idea on a part number for a replacement bolt?
