The best engine for the AW11 has to be the 4AGE TRD atlantic! it revs to 15000rpm,very strong very light and 240hp.tuning is always very expensive, which ever way you go,but at the end of the day the AW11 was designed to use the 4AGE! and that is the best! :D

you forgot to say it's also very unreliable :)

my point of spending multiple "k's" on 4AGE is simple. local legislation doesnt allow engine swaps but allows original engine modifications :) that's why I decided to chose the bolt on the charger. otherwise, I would be very tempted to swap a 3S or any V6.

I think there has been a good range of views expressed on this thread :thumleft:

All joking apart I'm very interested in all possible routes towards modding the AW11

Hope you've learned a lot from the thread Sherwin :thumleft:

Perhaps the anwer if you want to stay with the 4A is keep it simple & inexpensive by bunging a thick head gasket & a blower on :-k

Depends what you want to use your car for though

Blowing won't work for me cos I'll end up in a sprint class where I'm even less competitive than I am now

I think Feral's is still running Paul. But then John always was a bit of an exception to most rules.

If only it were that simple though, what provides the extra mapping for that blower? What injectors/pump and regulator would you need?

Will internals work and what about CR? Det? A hundred other considerations... it all costs big money.

Of course any fool can nail a blower onto an NA, we don't tend to hear about them for very long.

Yes, all very good points Paul :-k

Could an S/C ECU be used perhaps ?

Or a Megasquirt or other standalone maybe :-k

I was thinking that a thick head gasket could take care of the Det problem ?

Someone once mentioned the idea of low pressure blowing (or turboing)

The fact they do more things to the 4AGE than here is what I found much more helpful.

If you ask anything about tuning the 4AGE on here all you get told is that its a waste of money and put the 3STGE in -

DING, tis a real shame. :-:

None of that happens on the AE86 forums.

I think there is no shame at all

In my opinion it is very healthy for members to express different points of view

PW@Woodsport wrote:So let me get this right.... it's a shame there are much better options available? Or it's a shame i mention them?

Perhaps it would suit some people if these options didn't exist?

I can't quite work out why some of you have an extremely blinkered viewpoint.

If you want to plough thousands into your 4a-ge what do i care, it doesn't stop there being much better options available.

The Mk1's i build have the same power to weight ratio as a Porsche 911 GT3..... yep it's a real shame

Of course you're presenting the best possible options to people here. But then again, TwoBrutal is in your nature and the whole point of that is doing something different because it is what you fancy :thumleft:

If OP wants to ask about tuning a 3S-GE or a 4A-GE or whatever else, it's probably our duty to inform of the sensible option but equally to entertain the possibilities of a new option, as well as humouring new ideas.
