Painting Sills

Post by Nic »

I had some flaking paint and surface rust forming on the ends of both sills where they meet the front and rear wheel arches. I've wire brushed the areas back to bare metal ready to paint, any recommendations on what rust inhibitor/primer to use? Also, has anyone tried using this 2 pack aerosol paint?

I use rust remover after sanding back to bare metal to deal with any remaining oxidisation. which cost about £5 from Screw Fix. Anything with Phosphoric acid in is good. I've heard gel is best but I find the liquid form fine (and just as good for getting into any cuts you have on your hands if you're an idiot like me and don't use gloves...).

I prefer cellulose for spray cans as I find it easier to build up the paint.

I buy from the Rotherham branch of the same company btw - excellent people. If the Sheff branch are as good then go in and ask them for advice. :thumleft:
