Interior Vinyl Wrap

Been a busy day with some Vinyl today....









Very subtle black brushed aluminium look

Also fitted a new stereo with Bluetooth that controls with and charges my iPhone5

And then I set about my back panel and spoiler, not sure about that though

Really like the interior and rear panel - never keen on a rev5 spoiler that isn't body coloured though.

I'd not use the stuff I used again as it's not sticky enough to cope with the curves of the interior, just bubbled and came off when the sun hit it so I've trimmed the corners and concaved curves so they're just black but it looks OK, other bits have now started to lift.

Go for the 3M stuff on e-bay.. I think I may need to redo mine in the 3M stuff soon.

3M stuff costs more but has to be worth it if it sticks lol.... as I'm probably going to need to bin the stuff I used and start again......

Sorry to say the 3m stuff will peel too, I recently wrapped mine with 3m Carbon vinyl looked great for a week



Then started to buble slightly and peel on the curved edges. I have done some research and aparently the dash trim would need to be primed first to make the surface perfectly smooth. Because the dash in an mr2 has slight texturing the wrap will never seal 100%.

3m do a spray primer so going to give that a go and will let you know if it works any better.

looks good, but as said it wont last, wrap never does even if professionally applied - unless the item being wrapped is virtually flat

I've carefully trimmed all the corners on mine so the vinyl only just goes round them and that seems to look a bit better actually.

I really like the brushed black look.

I've done plenty of carbon wrapping myself and to get the corners and curves to stay just melt the vinyl with a soldering iron after it is cut and in place. The flat solder tip is best for external sections and the pointed is great for internal profiles and do it at the back of the components so it seals it in place more securely when refitted.
