Fitted a manual boost controller, won't go over 10psi.

I fitted a mbc today. The ball and spring type from gts chris.

I blocked the tvsv at the vsv end.

Went on a run, 10 psi.

Turned the screw in, still at 10 psi.

Any ideas?

Might not of sealed the tvsv end properly.

i put a bolt in it. and tied it up.

I think the leak is there. The only option to be honest.

i thought it was to give less tension in the spring resulting in actual control of your boost, i bought one years ago and it didn't matter which way you turned it, the boost wouldn't go up or down. cutting a coil off solved this issue.

i'd stick some plumbers tape on all the threads too, they leak like fook otherwise.

You turn the knob to apply load to the spring and the ball bearing.

If more load is on the ball bearing it is harder for the air to reach the actuator so more boost is required to move the ball bearing and actuate the waste gate.

I blocked the airway properly.

Still got the issue.

When I bought an MBC, it also holded about 10psi of boost at max.

Then I took off a spring and streched it to be a bit longer. now I can have boost as much as I want. Maybe the better idea would be just to but a stiffer spring, because streching is not the best option probably.

personally, i would be buying an electrical boost controller.
in cabin control, set the gain, boost limit etc

He wants to increase the boost, not lower it

Cutting a coil off will reduce the preload on the spring. This in turn will make the valve open at a lower amount of boost thereby opening the wastegate actuator at a lower boost.

@OP You can, as Greddy MR2 suggested, "stretch" the spring slightly, which may help

I know how they work. The problem is that the spring is too big for the thing. It doesn't do anything at all, its jutsa spring and ball crammed into a piece of metal. You need to cut off a coil or 2 then stretch it.
