Thanks Craig, can't wait to see them all painted up, definitely going for black.

2" thick layer of translucent wax.

Aye that'll do it.

Don't worry i'm a professional painter, they'll be fine.

Forgot to post up pics of my 2gr engine, a customer wanted the same colour scheme as me in his 3P0 red roadster, i convinced him a red plenum and gunmetal cam covers would look awesome, and it fits in perfectly with my red/black/carbon colour scheme, so i painted his and mine at the same time.

These were done with a special plastic etch primer and a 4 stage paint process, not bad...

How my engine looks...

That's 325bhp and 290lbs.ft of raw V6 Vvti goodness right there, i'm seeing 45bhp more out of my 2gr installs than Lotus do in the Evora, although to be fair they have some restrictions to adhere to.... can't wait to install it.

Is this in addition to the yellow one for Ant?!

In addition to? Not sure what you mean? I have about six 2gr engines here in various states of conversion, this one is Ants with his chosen colour scheme.

Ahh wow. I didn't realise the scale of your operations. Six that are actively undergoing the transition from rescue to use? Very impressed

Well more like 7 in total, most are just in parts gathering stage.

They are just gorgeous engines though, the engineering behind them is staggering, not surprised Lotus chose them.

So I gathered. I'm surprised not only by the number given the work involved but also the (I thought) rarity of the engine here. You must be jumping on them in expectation, I suppose.

Anyway, I shall desist from clogging this topic up further. It's a shame one of those seven isn't ending up in this!

I ship them over in containers of 6-10 units from the USA as a group buy for my customers and also homebuilders.

One of these is going in my Mk1, the Red and gunmetal one i posted earlier, for me all part of building the ultimate Mk1.

Wheels now masked and high build primed on the centres...

Image

I have to wait for this to harden before flatting back to give me perfectly smooth spokes....

Image

Centre caps done...

Image

My new badges, these are a big reason why black is going to work better...

Image

Basecoat black coming next, then several deep coats of clearcoat.

This car is going to be fantastic, I think me and Paul got the same taste when it comes to MR2`s.

If i just could find a way to get the car road legal in Norway, there would be a RHD AW11 in the woodsport garage for an engine and suspension upgrade immediately.

I`m very impressed by this build, would love to see it in person some day.

Thankyou for the kind words Kim, we've talked on Twobrutal about a possible Euro Mr2 tour so you never know.

Hi Alex, no vacancy just yet mate but i have you in mind :thumleft:

I prefer the raised caps, i know some people like the flat ones but the badges don't look right on flat caps, i'll have to see how they look and make a decision from there.

Tyre fitment next, i'm going with 245/35/16 Toyo Proxes T1Rs on the rear and 225/40/16 on the front, this will give me the same sidewall height front and rear, provide a decent footprint for the 2gr and still give me adequate handling.

Wow :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

The little red details will really set them off on the car. You better keep those tyres black! Might be a little bit pastiche but perhaps red accents on the valves or similar...?

I'd love to do that but every set of fancy valve caps I've ever fitted to a car have gone walkies within a fortnight, even had a valve ripped out on a tamper proof one.... It boils my p1$$ that kids think they can do that to someone's pride and joy.

Because of that I use stealth valves on my DD:

Thing is i can't use stealth valves, i have a TPMS system which will be going on this car, i've had it on various cars i've owned and it's a fantastic bit of kit, i'd love to fit some nice caps but i just know for a fact they'll go missing. I can't even use the shiney caps that come with the TPMS, they will just end up on some little Asbo enthusiasts BMX.
