...by taking away the chassis!
This is the Rogue XP1 which uses MR2 Roadster running gear and is based on a MEV Rocket chassis.
We've been working on it for a few months now along with manufacturers RTR and the above images are from it's initial shakedown test at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground last weekend.We've entered it into the 750 Motor Club's Sports Specials race this weekend at Brands Hatch to put it through it's paces and to get some feedback in a race environment.
We've had to add some panels, mudguards and lighting to meet the regulations. At our current weight and with an unmodified 1ZZFE engine (save for the exhaust and air filter) that puts the car at around 265bhp / tonne. This compares favourably to a stock rev 3 MR2 turbo which comes in at about 200bhp / tonne.We'll lose some more weight as the chassis is refined and the look of the thing should change quite a lot as well.
During it's development cycle this year it's going to look fairly rough as parts are added and removed for testing....and yes, there'll be a version with the 2ZZGE in it!
