Rev 3 tubby engine - internal tolerances/measurements query.

Post by badgerbob »

Hi all. After two bits of info

On the stock rev 3 3sgte does anyone know:

A) The manufacturers Piston to head clearance

B) The manufacturers piston to valve clearance

Just curious and planning if anyone has this info to hand :D

Cheers

Easy enough to measure yourself. I worked out piston to head by measuring piston to deck plus head gasket thickness.

Valve to head is a similar technique, with the addtion of some plasticine.

More than happy to explain in more detail but i'm sure you can work out the method yourself.

indeed buddy, easy enough to work out but it was just curiosity getting the better off me :D

Just find it quite surprising how much info can be found on the Internet about the mr2...yet something like this I have not been able to find any figures whatsoever.

Especially considering a fairly common mod of changing to high lift cams. I can only assume the piston to valve clearance is huge and not something that anyone has ever encountered problems with 8-[
