Boost controllers. Which are the best?

Post by dazzz »

I'm going to replace the mbc on my car with a suitable ebc. I'll only be running 13 psi.

What are the top models? Currently looking at the Blitz SBC type s controller in this link.

http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/ProductItem-4150.aspx

I believe this is the new model. Bit pricey so ill maybe look at a used model.

What have other people used and what are the choices available?

This seems to be the word on the street.

So the dsbc, is yours spec r or s. s being the single and r being the dual?

Spec R mate, the DSBC model for boost up to 2.5 bar. Spec S, I believe only for boost up to 1.3 bar if memory serves.

Ill only be running 0.9 bar. 1 bar at the most.

What boost you running? And what mods you using to support the boost.

Running 1.2 bar, just bolt on mods at the moment.

Hhhmmmm

1.2 bar you say. That's fairly high. What's the general rule on max boost for just bolt on mods.

I'm having the inter cooler changed at sbits when I have my cam cover gasket done. Ill have all the bolt ons then. How does the car cope with 1.2 and is it stock turbo.

Yeah, stock CT20b on mine. Runs fine.

Obviously I wouldn't recommend more than 1.2bar, in fact 1.1bar would be spot on for stock boost on a stock CT20b

Plus you're limited, as fuel cut is 18psi anyway, and 1.2 bar is 17.4psi.

I asked you that a few days ago! \:D/

From a bit of research I'm pretty sure it's 13psi and rev1/2 is 10psi.

Ok. Mines running 0.9 bar at the minute which is more or less 13psi.

I'll turn it up to 1bar once the ebc is done.

I know. I've confused myself. I think I told you it was lower the other day.

Don't listen to me.

I found this website while looking around;

Anyone used or know anything about the three different items below.

http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_2 ... ory_6/4150

http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_2 ... ory_6/2280

http://www.fensport.co.uk/Parts/Model_2 ... ory_6/2282

Are they all boost controllers or are they hardware add ons for the first controller.

Best on the market in terms of features and wastegate control are the Blitz icolor and HKS EVC.

There is an HKS EVC for sale here

I've got a Gizzmo IBC, great piece of kit and easy to use. Also it's rated to 3.5 bar.
