You have MK1, the boxy shaped MR2, MK2, the good looking one ;) and MK3 which is the girly looking one.

Within that, you have MK1a and MK1b (IIRC)
MK2 Rev 1-5, turbo & NA.
MK3 Pre-facelift & post-facelift. Can't remember years.

What year is your car?

Code: Select all

Revision dates

Revision 1 begins about Oct 89
    Revision 2, about Jan 92 (SW20-0059266 onwards)
    Revision 3, Oct 93 (SW20-0087386 onwards)
    Revision 4, Jun 96
Revision 5, Nov 97 (ends sometime in 2000)

The big revisions were revision 2 for the chassis and revision 3 for the engine (and ABS). The rest were mainly cosmetic.

X3 marks
You own a mk2
X5 revisions (Revs) of the mk2 all with various upgrades and updated bits... Mainly based around geometry, brakes, wheels and spoiler....

I will dig out some specs and years for you to clarify
It's difficult to wrap your head around at first but like anything else once your in the know its easy :thumleft:

Is it wrong that I prefer the lower profile front splitter to the later ones :-s

Don't worry - I don't prefer the 14" original wheels
I do love the BKs you had for sale - I miss mine a bit tbh

If you're keeping the car stock, then a nice little upgrade is rev2 brakes and 15" wheels :thumleft:

+1 worth doing
Also I'd refresh your brake lines with new ones
Of you don't have abs then a brake stopper makes a surprising difference and is fitted in a manner of minutes :thumleft:

And so starts the dangerous slippery slope to a world of modding...

It starts with a "I will just update this with a later rev version", and ends with a V6 engine
