The original OEM tie rods were fitted with metal spherical bearings in the factory. ALL MR2s have metal spherical bearings at each end of both tie rods.

wrong the tie rod's only have one bearing on one end , not both ends lol

OK, in theory it would work. But a) there's no point in any way whatsoever, and b) you'd be moving the outer joint inboard upsetting all the geometry when the suspension is working.

Custom rear tie bars?

I STILL don't understand why the exisiting precision spherical bearings are not good enough, especially when Toyota were good enough to put them in the right place to ensure correct geometry...
