Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
Having been sat around for a few months now, I popped my frunk to be greeted by a ton of moisture and mold. Now I have BC coilovers fitted with adjustable topmounts, which obviously means there are big gaps, which I assume is how the moisture is getting in. Is there anyway of sealing the top mounts to prevent this?
Don't seal it up - you need the air passage.
Whats happening is that the moist air is getting trapped and heated up in the sun which is then condensating against the warm metal.
It happens in my Frunk and Boot when my car has sat for a period of time.
Just wipe off the moisture but don't seal the area up whatever you do.
Ebay look up dehumidifiers.....pinghi bags or dampeaters types of gel bags, keep suspecting washer jets aswell dribbling. There is gaps around the back of battery holder box also letting in damp air!!
The gaps created by the topmounts 'should' actually help with condensation, don't think thats the issue.
Check the seals, i think you have water ingress somewhere.
on a sunny day, keep the boot open for a few hours to dry it up.
