Painting t-bar glass?

Post by HughesR1 »

I was wondering if anyone had ever colour coded their t-bar roofs? I love T-bars when the roof is off but not a fan of the black looking roof on a red car etc.

I'm sure with the correct preparation (Grit paper/etch prime, thin coats and laquer etc) you could colour code the roof, or even vinyl wrap it.

Tempted to buy some cheap t-bars and give it a shot! :D

If you want it to look like the bodywork why not buy the carbon fibre or fgp replacement ones? You could prep and spray these properly whilst also saving weight.

I think carbenfibrecreations does them :thumleft:

Painting glass is not a great idea... you could get away with vinyl wrap or tinting the glass but quite how this would look I have no idea...

it's been done before(think it was on mr2oc) and turned out like sh*t, paint doesn't key well to glass, as suggested, wrap it or get carbon ones :thumleft:

You can get a additive that goes in the paint which enables you to paint glass but u will have to lacquer it as it will scratch off with washing etc

Vinyl wrap or carbon t bar panels.

Paint won't last long on glass.

Looks like I will have to try and find some decent quality red vinyl!

Fibreglass is a good call :thumleft:
