I took a picture of the oil that came out my 2 today because it looks very dark to me, considering its only 3k miles old. I've got some cheap oil that I'm going to flush it with but does this look ok to everyone?
Oil colour. What do you think?

Re: Oil colour. What do you think?
I think I over think oil related things
I was a bit daft when I changed it last time because I had a few jobs to do I didn't warm the car up before I dropped the oil, which was stupid of me. Took it for a good drive to warm up before I dropped the oil today so should have helped a lot. Going to give it a few runs and drain it again and put some decent oil in.

you can never change it too much, especially on a turbo its quite important

Re: Oil colour. What do you think?
Definitely mate, I change my vans oil 4 times more than the manufacturers states due to the huge amount of cam chains (that are lubricated by engine oil) being destroyed by the paper oil filter disintegrating and blocking the feed to the cam chain.
The oil was a tenner and a genuine Toyota oil filter was 8 quid so can't go wrong, I will probably put the Fuch 5w40 fully synthetic when I drop it next, due to using that for the past year and the car hasn't being using any oil so must be ok.

Re: Oil colour. What do you think?
No mate Vaux Combo with the 1.3cdti Fiat engine. It's had a lot of problems tbh would get a transit next time because transporters are too expensive and a Vivaro tried to kill me by setting itself on fire and locking me inside!

My engine has been ok (touch wood) it's just everything else they have bolted on to it. The turbo waste gate keeps getting stuck, map sensor has gone twice, alternator has been changed, starter motor (bolt through gearbox what a great idea that was). I've done all the service items due to age of components but to be fair to it, it has always started on a morning

Re: Oil colour. What do you think?
Use a branded, quality fully synthetic oil, and it will do 12 months between changes.
Re: Oil colour. What do you think?
I'm going for this one as recommended by opie oils and my car has seemed happy with it since I put it in last time

Have you managed to get a price for those bits?
