[Mk2] [Generic] Help with cluster connections pls

You are looking at the instrument cluster minus the speedo, this is from a rev 3 n/a import

Need to know what the top two connections are for/ where they go in laymans terms please?



From looking at the front the bottom left is Earth the bottom right is IGN+ but the top two just go in to the connector. Any help much appreciated

Speed signal in and speed signal out. Can't remember which is which, but just trace back to the edge connector on the PCB, and look for violet (speed in) and violet/white (speed out) wires.

Looking for the Tacho/RPM signal on the back of the dash, i have a wiring diagram which points to connector pin B2 on the back of the instrument cluster (IGNITOR) but not sure if this is for a N/A or turbo or what revision as the diagram does not specify

Don't suppose you would know?

Failing that could i just use a multimeter and test the pins one by one?

My diagrams show it varies by revision. However, i do have a Rev3 N/A in my compound which i can check tomorrow.

Whichever pin it is, i can tell you you it'll be a black wire.

I'll post back after work tomorrow.

Ok that's good enough I already have the dash apart and now have 2 days off so will get hunting for a black wire 1st thing

It will also have continuity with IG- in diagnostic port.

Yeah I read that somewhere in a build thread, hoping to do a neat install and not have wires running all over the place so ideally would like to pick up the signal from behind the clocks, will update as I go tomorrow!

Found it and yes it was the black wire! Now to find the water temp sensor wire

Thanks very much, its looking pretty good albeit a bit rough round the edges but only cosmetic. Dead pleased with the looks/result so far
