[Mk2] [Generic] Rogue rev6 bumper now fitted. Pic heavy

Post by gazrev1tubby »

So my latest project has been to repair and repaint a rev6 bumper that I managed to get hold of. It was in a pretty poor state when it turned up, but has turned out great :D

Both front corners were pretty bad, and had been badly repaired, along with the front top section

After tidying up and filling the repairs, I shot a bit of etch primer over it, to seal it up and highlight any flaws

Then shot a bit of 2k primer to give a decent paint base

Painted with base and clear coat last weekend, so after a few days hardening, I flatted it down - ready for mopping. It's always a tense moment sanding new paintwork

Then after what seemed an eternity polishing it, it came up like this :cool1:

Instead of adding mesh to the front centre section, I decided to experiment with making a grill, similar to the forgmann rear panel, which I plan to use this idea for my next mod

Fitted it today, along with a shiny alloy race radiator, and i'm really pleased with the overall look now :thumleft:

really like the idea of the grille in the bumper, couldn't really see the detail in the photos you sent earlier

looking forward to seeing this and your centre panel once it is completed

That looks amazing Gary. You could do this for a living

My rev 6 has become rather tatty and chipped now. How would you charge for an identical job in toyota 6m1??

As said already, looks amazing. Really suits your car.

I went out to semi-mop mine yesterday as planned. After about 10 minutes the D/A got really hot and there was wisps of smoke coming out of the vents so that's all on hold for the moment. Picked up a cheap rotary so will give that a go at the next possible opportunity.

Thanks very much fellas, appreciate the kind comments :)

My old border bumper is sitting in my back garden. Another member may be interested in it, but i'm not sure just yet.

If I could find a workshop for a reasonable cost, i'd love to do this for a living. Building custom parts, and doing paintwork is a great hobby that i'd like to go further with.

Wish I could quit my day job and do what I actually enjoy, however, with financial commitments I can't see it happening anytime soon - unless someone would be interested in a joint venture.

Finding the work, and getting a pricing structure would be the first hurdle

If your Border bumper becomes available, let me know. Got a friend after one.
