Rear Window Surround - Refitting advice

Post by marshiboi »

Hi all

Had to remove my rear window surround for painting the car, has anyone else had to do this and what did you use to fit it and reseal it?

Ideally don't want a dirty black line running around it.

Well should still have the seal round the edge , but a small bead of sealant round the bolt holes can't hurt.

Don't see the problem..... New seal, get painted and refit.

My MR2 came with the seal missing, just doesn't look right without it.

How much are the seals and do they come with the adhesive already on?

I 'think' its sandwiched in when you put the surround back on and then painted over which seals it, but no-ones actually replied so I'm guessing :)

I thought the strip seal between the plastic surround and the roof came ready painted from Toyota.

Correct. Self adhesive on one side to stick to the moulding.
