Have you voltmeter checked at the battery when running and at the alternator plug on the 3 pins when just ignition is on?

Should obviously read 14v to 15v at battery when engine running if charging.
If not check all 3 pins earthing to block or chassis and ignition on.
Hopefully get around 12v from each then yes its most prob the alt.
If nothing from a pin then that loom wire is proberly damaged somewhere within the loom.
If this is the case you need to trace this wire back to fuse box and simply wire in a bypass wire to alt plug from splicing into near fuse box end of faulty wire.

Its a pain but heres what I do to remove the alternator.

Disconnect battery.
Remove drivers side in spection panel
Undo alternator bracket locking bolt poking out towards drivers side on top of alternator.
Remove wheel this side support car on jack stand and undo splash panel behind hub covering crank pulley.
Loosen alternator large pivot bolt.
Remove large black plug and 13mm nut on back side of alt from under car.
Now loosen tension bolt on rear firewall side of alt bracket and remove the locking bolt on top edge of alt.
Push alt towards engine and get slack on belt then remove it.

Now remove the pivot bolt from bracket and from under you should be able to get the alt out of the bracket and get it in the space below inlet mani.

The quickest way ive found to get it out now is to undo the subframe that side. You can get the 2 subframe bolts to allow and good 5-6cm of extra space between engine block and subframe without taking the bolts off completely. Support the subframe or block with another jack or stand when doing so.
Also there are 2 short braces between the drive shaft and block that may help you if remove them. Both have one end attached to drive shaft bracket.

I would have another jack or stand bracing subframe or engine block if you need to do it this way.

Hopefully this will now give enough of a gap to slide and manoeuvre the alt out between subframe and engine block.

Depending on what sort of exhaust you have fitted you may need to unbolt the cat to flexi part aswell.

When you refit it may help to use something smaller than the pivot bolt to help align the alt into the pivot point on the bracket. Also maybe replace belt if worn.

Check for oil leaking on to the alt from around inlet mani, maybe the rocker cover gasket is leaking which should be sorted before another alt put in.
