[Mk2] [Turbo] Spark plug gap.

Post by adam maclean »

Apologise if this is already covered. I have used the search, but nothing conclusive. Can some one please confirm the correct spark plug gap for my mods?

Rev 3:

3 " Turbo back system.
Apexi Induction.
HKS Intercooler
NGK Leads
Running 1.0 bar on stock CT20.

Thanks.

Only mention of a spark gap is 0.6 mm. The only mentions of gaps I've seen recommended have been 0.8 or 0.7. can any one confirm which one of the 3 gaps to use? :-k

The higher the boost, the closer the gap ! :thumleft:

I know this is an old thread but I'm trying to find out if there are any charts, or if anyone can tell me what the gap should be a certain boost levels.

I'm using HGK BKR7E plugs and running between 1 - 1.2 bar with a 205 charge cooler.

Any help greatly received.

I run the same plugs at the same levels of boost at 0.8mm gap with no issues at all. Just replace them once a year and all is well.

There is a very simple answer which covers all permutations of plugs, ignition systems, component condition and boost levels:

You run the biggest gap you can without the spark being blown out.

I'd gap them to 0.7mm
