Ran a BeeR for a year on my S13, drag strip most weekends. It was fine, did the job it was needed for. Nothing blew up.

Had one in my old GT4, blew the manifold and turbo gaskets.
May have caused the turbo oil seals to fail as well.
Still have the BeeR, don't know if i'll fit it to MR2 though.

Go on the skyline or 200sx forums, loads of people have them without the horror story's, the gt4 would be the type b version which fits mr2 btw

That's because you're not looking properly and/or posts like "blew the manifold and turbo gaskets, may have caused the turbo oil seals to fail as well" can be taken as gospel

Seriously, did it blow the welds too? Kill Baby Jesus? How on earth could it have caused the oil seals to fail? Heh, just kidding.... :D

They simply cut the ignition in a rudimentary fashion as opposed to cutting the fuel at the stock RPM limit. The method it uses to cut the ignition is nowhere near as controlled as a standalone ECU's. It will cause additional stress on components, just like bouncing off the stock rev limiter.

They are a motorsport-oriented adjustable launch control device. They can help build a bit of boost as you're waiting to shoot off down the 1/4 mile. Alternatively, they make big flames and bang bangs outside Maccy D's for half an hour non-stop before something goes wrong and you post on the interweb how another BeeR killed your motor. Ign limiters place huge strains on the valve train, for a track/drag car, that may be worthwhile. For a street car, well. They do make big bangs :thumleft:

Yeah, even the older G3 has multi-option launch control & full anti-lag capabilities.

If you want the best then it has to be Motec

Sigh....

Not really when it comes to high-end EMS solutions. It depends on who is mapping it for one.

You've simply linked to the Motec website above. Not really sure how that proves anything to be fair.

Can these devices be set to come on with a clutch switch so could be used for full throttle gear changes?
