You should have undone the nut when the engine was in the car, you may have big problems with it now.
Yes it has a key way and key

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Crank pulley / flywheel help
You may well be needing an impact hammer on the nut but you have to lock the crank tight. With luck that will work, if not then its going to be lots of heat on the nut till its red hot then lots of cold water and the impact hammer

And a new crank pulley as you will have melted the rubber inside it...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Crank pulley / flywheel help
I have a crank pulley sitting here incase you melt it
I removed mine with the engine out... No need to make a special bar just -
- wedge a crowbar between 2x flywheel bolts and the ground
- Get a long long long breaker bar possibly with a pipe to extend it
- Get someone to hold the engine still as you stand on the bar
- Or If your on your own and have no friends like me wedge the engine between something to stop it moving, I used trailers.
- Quick bounce on the bar and it undone

I'd advise not to use heat.
Unless of course you're planning on replacing crank seal etc.
Back in the day I had a welded up starter motor to lock the engine.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Crank pulley / flywheel help
I did mine on an engine stand, flywheel bolts in, handle from a trolley jack through them braced against the engine stand. That wasn't an MR2 engine but it worked just fine! Wasn't reusing the flywheel bolts either...

I google searched ages ago and saw loads of horror stories about removing that bolt, glad yours and mine came off easy lol
