Is it easy to tell if you have Forged pistons by looking at the top of the piston??
Dont want to let my block go cheap and find out it had forged pistons in it LOL
(Car had engine work done before it came to the UK eg Metal Headgasket and the seller said it originally came with a HKS Turbo kit that he removed due to massive lag) Just makes me wonder if it had anything else done to it while it was in japan...

Won't be easy to photograph in they're inside the engine...
Can you get hold of a borescope? If not, PM me.

I assumed since he had stripped his car, he had the head off.
Otherwise, yes, boroscope.

Re: Easy to tell if you have forged pistons?
does engine condition still look good from them pics or can you not really tell that from pictures? Car ran fine with no smoke or anything
Re: Easy to tell if you have forged pistons?
Cylinder walls look good. You can still see the crosshatch from the last hone. Piston crown looks clean to...almost too clean (water injection maybe?) oh and yeah the pistons are stock.

Good to know thanks
Whats the Piston crown? The top of the piston or them clean bits on the piston??
No water injection, just Always ran on Vpower since its been over here from Japan and regular oil services with Gulf Racing and that other high quality oil Opie Oils did, Fuches I think its called (If oil services can make a difference)
Re: Easy to tell if you have forged pistons?
piston crown = top of piston
Normally you will find way more combustion residue on the piston crown due to the tubby running pig rich every time you thump the throttle.
Is the motor relatively new?

No dont think, All I know is at some point in its life it had a Metal HG fitted
I owned the car for 3 - 4 years and just ran on Vpower all the time, regular oil changes, regular air filter changes (HKS Green filters), spark plug changes and made sure Dizzy and rotor was always in excellent condition.
Also ran a ST205 Chargecooler if that could make a difference due to the cooler intake temps?
