i first saw a mr2 turbo some 10years ago, and i wanted one! but my age and lack off money were against me ...... fast forward to 3months ago, and this apeard on my next doors front
after a brief chat with the lass next door i found out it wasnt hers, but i may be for sale soon
A deal was then struck and i am getting her some point this week
to cut a long story short i have since found out the the car hasnt been run for almost a year, needs some work (or replacement) on the passenger sill, battery needs charging, no radio, 151K km's (91K miles if my maths is right) .... and probably lots more, but i cannot wait
Right my plans atm are :-
charge battery
see if it starts <<< anyone know anything i should be aware of before i spin her over?
assess body work
fix stuff
mot
...... fun!

Re: My Mr2 rev2 Turbo
Be sure to pour some fresh fluids (gasoline, coolant and oil) into her before starting her up.
Congrats on the purchase! Looks like a nice and clean MR2.

Re: My Mr2 rev2 Turbo
If well maintained it shouldn't be too bad running costs wise. It's when you get the urge to start tweaking, then you're on one hell of an expensive roller coaster

Re: My Mr2 rev2 Turbo
well deal has been done, monies changed hands etc ..... battery is charging
i found out some more info too, i has had a new clutch and cambelt (less than 2Kmiles ago) ... and the windscreen wipers dont work but i'll sort that once i have everything else running. upuntil the battery went dead, it was started ever week or 2 for five mins, until 6 months ago, so it might not be as bad as i am expecting.
now the bad bits:-
the interior/roof is or has been leaking (i knew about this)
there is no radio .... just a huge hole lol (i knew about this)
like i said passengers sill has gone
but i'll replace that
Both tyres on passenger side have gone flat (i knew about this)
battery retaing bar (the bit that goes down the side of the battery) is missing
the spare tyre is missing
it needs a good clean
all in all not bad considering what i paid for it

ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!
dont know if i have already posted this or not, i have since found out the car has been running within the last 7months, so i gave it a fluid check, charged the battery, and went for it!
fortune favours the brave
so she starts and i can move her now, i have pumped up the tyres and began checking her out
The "not working/problem list"
1) Battery warning light battery voltage =12v (engine off), 11V (engine run @ 2K RPM) alternator looks ok .... but i guess its goosed have chacked all the fuses i can (i cannot find MAIN though)
2) Engine Compartment Cooling Fan Warning Light any ideas on this one? rad fuse ok, but Fan Main relay missing???
3) Cat High Temperature Warning Light no idea on this one, but will check fuses and see if there is one some where
4) boost gauge dosnt apear to work
5) wipers only work in the manual 1 shot, dont work on either timed or slow or fast

Re: My Mr2 rev2 Turbo
Check connections and earths on the alt before replacing for corrosion.
Fan light is for intercooler fan. Check this first. Is it there does it work and is it conected.
Also check the earths under the inlet as can cause electric issues.

Re: My Mr2 rev2 Turbo
Welcome sp00n, the car sits nicely on those rims.
Take extra care at this time of year with the 2, especially if this is first one you have driven.

while i was in there i noticed this funny green wire
anyone know what its for?
also should there be a relay in the main relay slot in the funk fuse box?
