Neither of my radiator fans run. They run if wired directly to 12V.
When the car is off there is continuity from the -ve on the battery to the -ve plug at the fan but this goes with the key in the ignition.
The passenger side fan has 12V at the live pin when key is in and if you connect the -ve pin to ground the fan runs.
Does any one have a wiring diagram for the cooling fan system or any suggestions?
It is an import. Can anyone explain the fans correct operation please.
Thanks

Just to add....
Had a new radiator and water pump. Water is flowing through the rad and it has been bled.
It did also have a little knock on the front drivers side corner. Have not seen the fans run since any of the above have been done.

With engine running unplug the sensor in the O/S of the rad. Do the fans come on?

Right, with the engine running no fans run.
With the O/S temperature sensor unplugged the N/S fan runs.

Perfect. The N/S fan is for the air con system.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Radiator fans not running
So the fans are operating correctly?
Is it just i am not getting the system hot enough to warrant the fans running?

Yep. Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3 rear pads are all the same.

Correct.
Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Radiator fans not running
45 minute run & the fans still don't come ok. Saying that it didn't overheat so may still be working. Perhaps I'm being paranoid but I'm sure the fans always used to run when i'd finished that journey before!?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Radiator fans not running
Did you fix the problem?
I may be completely wrong but if you've recently had a new rad and water pump perhaps it's being cooled more efficiently so the fans aren't needing to kick in as soon as they used to.
Like I say could be wrong but makes sense to me!
