may car is misbehaving, I have several red waring lights on and the MIL, the battery light, (!) light and engine bay temp warning light have all just come on but they go off when the enine is reved and come back on when it returns to idle the MIL is on all the time what are my options? I considering a gallon on petrol and a match at the moment but I supose I should have a go at finding out what's wrong with it first,
car is std apart from a de-cat (it's a 92 so doesn't require a cat)

Search function will return dozens of threads on this.
Either your alternator is on its way out (likely since the issue is RPM dependant) or you have a wiring loom fault between alternator and rear fuse box.
To start with, look for 14V at idle.

thanks I'll do another search, Oh forgot the temp gauge isn't working either
Re: [Mk2] [NA] warning lights help !!!
If the lights are going off when revving it a bit more it could be possible that the alternator belt needs tightening a little?
Is it squeeling at all?
Failing that, what Peter said ^^^

Most likely unrelated.
With ignition on, try shorting out temp sensor loom terminal to earth. If gauge goes to max, gauge is good and sensor needs replacing.
