This did NOT start with Luke changing a starter motor. I don't mind an opinion but you are just posting inaccuracies rather than making any attempt at addressing the actual facts as I have had to. Again I have to point out that whilst you are keen to pour contempt on the conclusions I have reached you've put forward none of your own. You've furnished no explanation for the sequence of events as far as I can ascertain. Nor for Lukes silence on the matter to me who was his paying customer, indeed you praise his silence. I trust when it's your turn you will be just as temperate.

erm I never said it started with the starter motor, I said the first thing he did to try to resolve your issue was change it. my facts are straight.

Sorry for my language those who have complained they can't understand it... it's English and I've actually said and implied just want I intended to.

I have no trouble understanding the english language my friend, its just your use of 'english' is you trying to convince people you know what your on about with fanciful sentences and words, when infact when interpreted into how most of us ACTUALLY speak, you havent got a scooby doo why your car was F**ked

Car has now completed another 300 miles or so and gone through multiple daily start ups and is driving and charging just fine. Finally my thanks once again to Pan Autos for sorting everything for me.

I think people need to stop attacking highwaystar,
If I was a repeat paying customer, and my car had been condemned with a seized engine a day or so after returning from said garage ( turning out to be a simple starter motor) I would have a few questions.

On top of that, phone calls and text messages are then ignored by the garage adding to the flames and suspicion. I would also be slightly agitated.

These are the fact for me, this situation should have been dealt with in a more professional manor by the garage irrespective of the fault or cause.

I’m in a service position and in some causes we call customers just to tell them there are no updates to their problem, this keeps the customers calm and happy.

The question that interests me is, why was the starter motor not identified as the problem by an mr2 specialist in the first place and why were calls ignored?

Paul highwaysar is not a mechanic so why do you keep hunting him down for answers. A simple faulty starter or wiring could have caused a drain or charge issue.
I think your offer earlier of a free engine was amazing and shows your commitment and great service, but I feel you’re attacking him personally for no reason now on a public forum.

what he said above :thumleft:

All he wanted was his car working regardless of the whys and wherefores
he reluctantly took it elsewhere.......and in hindsight .....was right to do so.

Makes me laugh really, took from july 29th to August the 8th to let HS know that the borescope was inconclusive as the "sun came out" and the screen couldnt be seen.........11days......

And some of you people here wonder why he was getting more and more angry  .

Also agree with afennell. All this bitchiness towards Highwaystar is getting out of hand. He is not a mechanic by trade and is only going to know what the garage has told him.

If it all happened as stated and his messages were ignored for a month while his car was being stored then I think that would be enough to make most people lose their rag.

The car problem may not be Luke's fault at all as stated but the whole situation was handled very poorly.

Er.... i'm not "attacking" anyone mate, from the start i've been trying to help get to the bottom of it, as a mechanic it didn't make any sense from the beginning and i feel if Luke is going to be dragged through 15 pages of crap we should at least know the reason for it.

Agreed, Rob is not a mechanic, so why then is he not prepared to accept the explanations that Luke cannot be to blame from others who really know what they are talking about.

My offer of a free engine and free install is hardly the actions of someone attacking somebody on a public forum now are they? Since Rob announced that all he had done was have a starter replaced i feel the whole episode has been hugely unfair on Luke, and Rob still doesn't recognize that it was not his fault.

By the look of it Luke failed to diagnose the problem, that is his only mistake, the public flogging, two threads one in trader feedback condemning him as being responsible for "killing his car" etc are well out of order.

The thread may as well be closed now as opinions are never going to change.

Well I feel you are attacking him, I’m puzzled why you’re so determined to undermine Highwaystar at the possible risk of your reputation for new forum users when Luke is not even posting himself.

I mentioned the free engine in my previous post, it’s very rare for such generosity these days.

Its been 15 pages of crap because of people trying to stand up for Luke.

Whatever the reason for the cars issues, with better customer service all this could have been avoided.

I do agree that accusing Luke of destroying the engine is unreasonable, but it was Luke that had wrongly diagnosed the dead engine after the car had been in and out of his work shop. Then he does not communicate with the customer. I can understand why Rob would believe this.

So yes this whole situation is in a way is Lukes fault. If he had dealt with this situation correctly or diagnosed the car correctly then this would not have happened.

Whether or not Lukes workmanship had anything to do with the problems is of little importance in my eyes, he wrongly condemned a car, failed to communicate with the customer. The car could quite easily be sitting in a scrap yard now for just a starter motor.

Well you're wrong, i have no personal problem with Rob at all and never have had, merely trying to get to the bottom of the accusations being aimed at Luke when we know the starter motor failure was not his fault.

Rob if you yourself feel i have "attacked" you, then i apologise for that, it certainly wasn't my intention.

Also my reputation is just fine thankyou, and if a new forum user was to judge me on a few forum posts after offering to fit someone i don't know a free engine then to be quite frank with you i don't want to work for those sorts of people.

I don't blame Luke for staying quiet.

Luke failed to offer a level of service to Rob in many ways and condemned an engine that turns out to be fine.

Do you feel this is an expectable way to treat customers?

I agree on this occassion Luke didn't diagnose the problem, but to subject him to what appears to be a witch hunt by certain people when the actual cause of the problem was nothing to do with him is not on.

How many times has he successfully diagnosed problems, helped people for free, gone beyond the call of duty and bent over backwards like so many traders do here? Nobody deserves this sort of treatment over one car with one fault. When you do your job, do you come home to find a forum dedicated to what you do judging your days work? Do you ever make mistakes at work? It would be pretty soul destroying to have to put up with don't you think?

xxxx it let's burn him.

Personally I think it's a travesty that this thread has been allowed to continue. It has mutated into a trader feedback thread with one party absent and the other being economical with the facts.

I don’t believe there is any reason to lock to post as I don’t think it goes against any forum rules.

I do agree it has gone on for too long. But it’s us keeping it running not Luke or Rob.

Where you read it “lets burn Luke”, I read it, “Lets burn Rob”. Maybe we can all learn something from this thread.

Anyway, i'm going out and enjoy the sun with the roof off for the few sunny days we have left :thumleft:

Is this STILL going on?

I think, over the last god knows how many pages, it has been established that there have been discrepancies in many areas, both with the trader and the customer. No one is going to admit fault and it has been going around in circles for a while now.

The car is back on the road, the customer is now happy that his car is back on the road. The Trader did not cause the engine issue (which has been established as the starter motor) and subsequently shouldn't be seen in any bad light. Win win all round.

Surely this "merry go round" thread now needs to be locked??!! ](*,)
