[All] [Generic] potential EU law against modified cars?

Post by kingsley »

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this but it struck me as relevant to all who look in this topic (and most places in this forum).

Also, apologies if this is a re-post but I used the search facility and didn't find any other posts about it.

This worries me:

I seriously hope it doesn't happen. Both of my cars are modified. I think standard cars are boring, unless they cost at least as much as a small house.

Cheers,
Kingsley.

Are we sure about this??? Im just about to spend a billion trillion pounds modding my 2... Started reading it but its government babble speak.. However it does seem just the sought of thing the government would go with, I live in central London and 4x4 are taxed off the roads, speed bumps everywhere, no congestion charge for electric cars... It does not seem that unlikely they would impose something like this..

I remember laughing at the idea of not being able to smoke in the pub!!!!!!

Quite sure.

Any legislation would affect cars in the future - not cars already built and modified.

To be honest, it's such a big industry in the UK that I don't think it'd be worth the loss in tax and the loss of jobs to implement it. We just need to get a few of the guys pulling the strings into some of these cars. That'd soon change their minds. :thumleft:

Yeah it just reminds me alot of the things i said about the smoking ban,
"dont be ridiculous think about the loss of business for bars, clubs, etc they will never do it" There are a lot more smokers than modified car owners!

We are living in a ever more restrictive society..

However I do think it would be difficult to implement, are they going to strip the block every time I go for a MOT to see if my pistons are stock??
However I think we should be keeping an eye on this because the "Prius" mentality is taking over and its only a matter of time before they start objecting to your fire breathing external waste gate..

All I can say is I will be first in the road block of central London and I hope you will all be there too because can you imagine how terrible it would be if they do impose this law..

The smoking did take a huge toll on the NHS though. I'm not sure what the cost of modified cars are to the government?

Not half as much money as it provides for the NHS through taxes on tobacco but thats another issue.
