Low or no oil will damage so many parts, that will have been your problem

I've been to an engine rebuilder today and it will cost me around £250-£270 to get my journals re ground, depending on how bad the damage is.

I have been offered a Rev 3 engine but i know that my current exhaust manifold will not marry up to the head, I dont particularly want to change it since there aren't that many exhaust systems available that i like.

so i am either going to get mine repaired or if anyone has a spare one lying around that they wouldn't mind selling... PM me please :D

There may well be much more damage than just the crank, the cams run on bearings in the head and with no oil the head my now be scrap too

Sorry Paul, no the cam cover hasn't been swapped.... you did tell me to ignore the post if it wasn't what you mentioned :P

And not just the grind Peter, shells and what not as well but by the sounds of it, that wouldn't equate to £250 for yourself....

Shameless plug here, but I'm about to drop my low miles rev 3 na complete setup out of my car. It's had lots of new parts on it and runs a dream, I'm not looking for a huge amount for it. Will have everything just ready to drop right in...

£90 for grind and polish. £110 ish for bearings. If includes bearings, then price is more realistic.

I's be very wary about re-using any rod that has spun a bearing. The intense heat produced can distort the rod. Out of interest, is the second failure on the same journal as the first? If so, was the rod changed first time round?

The rev 3 manifold/downpipes aren't too bad as standard, just bolt your back box on and away you go. Rev 3 seem to be better running a cat etc anyway to get the back pressure. 173bhp as standard...
