I need a bit of advise i have got a complete rev 2 turbo gearbox, driveshafts and hubs but just realised that they are non abs hubs-i was going to use it for my v6 but it is a rev3 with abs so is it just a case of finding abs hubs and using the driveshafts or am i completely screwed and need the whole lot?
any help would be greatly appreciated!
p.s i you need any spares just as i have a stoopid amount i am sorting out to sell!

to retain the abs you will need abs driveshafts and abs hubs/sensors
you could of course just get abs type outer cv joints

Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
Oh bu88er I thought it may be the case!will I still be able to use the gearbox with the different abs shafts?the other option is to remove the abs but don't fancy going down that route!
Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
not sure as most if not all rev3 turbo gearboxes have an lsd so the inner ends are different, i think i have read on here that either
lsd driveshaft fit non lsd gearboxes
or
the other way round
personally id remove the abs as its rubbish anyway, it got better at rev4, my rev3 turbo doesnt have it

Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
Thanks for the advise! So am i wrong in thinking all turbo gearboxes don't have a lsd then? How do i know if mine has one?
Tbh the abs was always rubbish felt that it kicked in to early

Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
pretty sure only rev3+ have them as standard, not to say rev1/2 might not have them if they were an option.
easiest test is to get both back wheels off the ground (assuming the gearbox is fitted) and spin one of them, if the other side goes the same way then you have an LSD. Im pretty sure that theres other way to check but i cannot remember what it is

Doesn't work with a viscous LSD.

Viscous.
Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
mines a rev3 and both wheels spin the same way, what does that mean then?
i must have an LSD as both wheels will leave tyre marks so they both have drive, i though if it didnt have an LSD then only one would leave a tyre mark

Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
well if the turning the wheel test is true?My both wheels turn at the same time when jacked up

You can tell from the transmission code on the stamped plate in the frunk, if you still have the car's original gearbox fitted.

Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
On the silver plate in the frunk there's a Transmission line. It will say something like A/TM E153/735.
E153 is the gearbox model. If the last digit of the other 3 numbers (in the example I gave in bold a 5) is a 3 or a 5 then when the car was built it had the stock viscous LSD.

Just checked it and it has the same number as yours:)
Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
so the wheel turning test does work for stock lsd's unless the gearbox/lsd has been changed.
ill check mine later

Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
Couple that with the fact that the Toyota viscous LSDs are powered by thick goop which becomes less viscous through time/use, and they don't exactly 'lock' when they become less viscous, I wouldn't be that concerned about whether you have one or not!

Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
mine is 753 too, wheels spin in same direction,
does that mean its got an LSD but its not working properly?

Re: turbo hubs-abs and non abs-help!
It means nothing. As Peter said (twice), you CANNOT do the car in the air, spin the wheels test to determine whether you have a VISCOUS LSD or not. That only works with torsen and plate diffs, not the crappy viscous Toyota ones.
