Doing a few bits so the car is off the road at the moment :(
I need to patch my rev6 bumper and am really tempted to get a set of abflug arches, I've also got rev1/2 lights fitted now with the Forgmann panel too which I am thinking of colour coding

Still haven't made up my mind regarding the spoiler so the drift is fitted at the moment ,but that doesn't really go with the PP lid so think that spoilerless is the way forward

This thread got me thinking about de-spoliering my '90 Rev 1 as part of it's current weight loss programme (every gram counts!).

Would everyone agree that the spoiler on a road car is there solely for aesthetic purposes? Or, does it actually provide any real downforce at higher speeds?

Don't think it does much on a mr2 because it's to low and how the back window is air flow ends up messed up it needs a smooth drop to feed it to work properly tho it will add a little down force

Can't make my mind up spoiler no spoiler driving me nuts

I had a 3SFE, and I put a rev 1 spoiler on it, including drilling into the wings for the side pods! #-o

That was back in 2002!

Well I removed the spoiler yesterday, and am loving the 'clean' look.. plus it weighs a fair bit, so thats a few more kgs shed  There's loads of holes, but I'll plug them with rubber grommets..

It looks far better without

Rather than plugging the holes have then filled and use it as an excuse for a respray :thumleft: Lol

Well it's a track day project so I'm not too fussed about the holes Karl, the car's a bit of a scruff anyway, and with my driving skills may well be crashed to bits first time out on track (especially with some of my mates driving..)

This wikipedia article explains the basic function of a spoiler:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoiler_(automotive)#Passenger_vehicles

It's even got a picture of an mr2 as an example :)
