HT Leads (Ignition Leads)

Post by MR2Junior »

What is the best size to buy? I have found a website that sell upto 8.5mm leads but unsure if they are to big. If i buy leads to big what damage can be caused?

The lower the resistance the better. Most HT leads are in the 4K-6k ohm resistance, some you can buy as low as 600 ohms (less than 1k ohm).

It's not going to make loads of difference but you will get a better spark.

Genuine Toyota. Nothing else. They fit properly first time. They handle big horsepower and they deliver a reliable spark.

Don't be fooled by pointy shoe salesmen telling you stories of more bhp with aftermarket leads and expensive iridium spark plugs.

Just use standard ones. You will have no benefit from a fatter spark on an NA unless you have spent thousands tuning it, and stock Toyota leads are really really good. Some aftermarket ones don't last as long, fall apart, are not quite the right lengths so they pull tight, or don't have the required waterproofing.
