+1.

The driveability is like night and day. Just have to put up with the stupid noise changing gears.

No more having to fill the entire pipework and intercooler from the turbo to throttle plate with air every shift.

When you say no BOV, do you mean run with the factory setup?

He means no BOV at all.

As Luke has already suggested, not very clever. Compressor stall every gearchange, and always a risk of shaft/compressor wheel breakage.

Because ST185 GT4's pop turbos all the time right? ;)

Running no bov and get lightening spool during full throttle shifts. None of this "stall" people talk of.

I have even got "ghost" bov noise through the intake now and again. Quite a lot of turbo chatter when driving normally though.

I am getting my turbo rebuilt next year. So I will report back with the findings. After researching this subject, I have concluded that my driving style will do more damage/wear to the turbo than what running no bov will do.

Oh and for those with an aftermarket side mount intercooler that want to test out "no bov" mode. The stock "intercooler to throttle body pipe" will fit between the turbo and intercooler (removing the hot pipe and bov). You can try it out without any custom pipework!

i did a bit of reading around the subject and came up with the same things. which are, apperantly the bov is there for noise regualtions and that the chatter noise is not stall its just the sound of being air cut through the turbines...whether thats true or not i dont know.

what the easiest way to block off the bov mounting point but non permanent

Try my method (previous post) if you have the factory "intercooler to throttle body pipe" (the curvy dull one). That can fit in the place of the factory hot pipe (turbo to intercooler), therefor eliminating the bov.

Just to give it a go...(I cannot post images or urls but I have a picture of it done on photobucket if anyone is interested)

What about the little vac pipes to the bov? How are they routed/blanked off?

Just pulled my BOV off and stripped it down, seems air tight but all the rubber is brittle and cracking, certainly not A1 condition.
Do I just block off the vac pipe from the BOV and the vac pipe from the hot pipe or reroute them?

Give it a go, you will be surprised on how much bov noise remains. You will really feel it with fast gearchanges.

just how it is like on the stock bov!

the 1 you got only has 1 vac line (like my one did)

the reason i got rid of my 1 was it failed (the material aint all that) the super sound bov is alot stronger

So what does the vac pipe running from the hot pipe to the sensor at the back of the bay do? Is it just for air con idle up? Have only seen it labelled up on a Rev 1/2 pic.

sorry buddy you have lost me .. got a pic of what your talking about lol ?

the bov's that have 2 vac lines usually just have a T piece and obviously the bov's that only have 1 vac line dont need a T piece ...
