Full beams - mot failure

Post by chrisdc1983 »

Had the MOT done. Only fault is the full beams won't come on (both sides), its been like this for a while. I can still manually flash full beam, but once i click it into place for full beam the lights go off completely. Any ideas?

Thanks

I'd personally be thinking that the wiring was shorting out or potentially an issue with some form of high beam relay?

Bit of a stab in the dark tbh, but might give you something to consider....

Mines been like this since I bought it in 2009.

Replaced
Stalks
Bulbs
Lamps
Wiring at the head lamp end

Am getting power down the line to them now but other than when there flashed they still stay of.

I've wired mine in to the flash for main beam now and is working enough for testing as I've not driven in the dark for some time it hasn't worried me.

Sounds like the switch for the full beam isnt locking in. Could be that the switch has loosened or grease is getting inbetween the contacts. Had that with another car, just cleaned it up and away to go.
