[Mk2] [Turbo] Clutch recommendation

Post by PeterRST »

I'm looking for a replacement clutch kit for my Rev2 Turbo. I always thought the std item was a bit weak, you couldn't really bring the back round by dumping the clutch, etc. Maybe it was only down to wear, though.

So I'm not sure if I should go for a new standard or an uprated one. I still want 100% driveability in traffic and daily use. The uprated one in my Escort RS Turbo annoys the hell out of me by rattling its boobs of when driving off slowly

My car's only mildly tuned, pushing a guesstimated 250 bhp (Rev2 Turbo with Berk intercooler, Apexi induction kit and 14,5 PSI)

What would you lot recommend?

I think the standard Toyota clutch is supposed to be good for up to 300bhp, so unless you're planning some big power mods I'd go standard.

Nice clutch. BUT:

"This clutch will make driving in traffic harder as it will judder and rattle unless you use a quicker take off than normal."

Yes that worried me a bit, however I'm not sure whether it's just "legal talk" or serious advice. They seem to put that sentence under every clutch that's not standard.

Anyways, I just rang camskill and the clutch is not in stock and Exedy doesn't have it either.

Peter, what clutch kit would you recommend? Can you make me an offer?
