Wheels and offsetss

Post by juliankv73 »

Hi

Just a quick question,....

Ive looked on calculator websites and cant understand the offset and tucked in or out stuff..

I currently have BBS LM 18inch staggered wheels 7.5j et35, 225/35/18, and 9j et42, 255/35/18.

Im looking for some 17" wheels

1) 17x7" Offset et40 with 5 x 114.3 stud pattern.

2) 17x7 1/2J et 43

or

3) 2x8.5, 2x9j et 38

Which would fit or could fit an MR2 mk2 with Ohlins adjustable damper shocks with unknown springs?

Thanks Julian

17x8 front +35 and 17x9 rear +35 is flush for a SW20.

Those 17x8.5 fronts +38 might touch your struts if you have coilovers. There isn't a whole lot of room to move up the front of a SW20, but there is a heap of room in the rear.

Do not go for option 1 or 2!

It would be an absolute crime, more to the point I'd kill you if you replaced them with cheap heavy nasty alloys!

You need to find something as close to Al's width and et as possible to keep it looking and running decent.

keep it jdm and lightweight.

The BBS on there at the moment are hardly lightweight, my 17x8/9 inch BBS LMs were bloody heavy!

If it were me I'd be looking at snapping up one of the sets of 16" Enkeis for sale in the wheels and body work section now, then put some AD08s on them ;)

Whose halfords 18s? I've got some nice feather weight Enkei 16s ;)

I love BBS LMs, but they are really heavy compared to say TE37s or RP01/RPF01 :)

Sorry I didn't mean you in particular, I just ment any average halfords type 18inch wheels.

Obviously there unlikely to be lighter than some jdm 16s or 17s, just saying don't go fitting some cheap wheel when you have killer bbs lms.
