mk2 saved from the scrap man for a change .

Post by mk1 dal »

hi , this poor mk2 was is a sorry state for the last 12 months parked up and left to rot . this was my mates car and he was going to scrap it 2 weeks ago as he had lost interest in it ( he brought it on a whim to do up but never did anything with it and has never drove it ) . my true mr2 is the mk1 and i have had 18 off them and still have 2 mk1,s to drive , but i through what the hell i will try the mk2 . the battery was flat as a fart when trying to start it so a booster pack was used and fu*k me it started first time ,proper car a Toyota . it needed a new passenger door as it was rotten and dents removing out of every panel . the brakes where striped and are now working spot and that's all it needs to pass mot . i got the car for 200 pounds scrap value and the best 200 i have spent for a long time .i repainted the whole car then flatted and mopped it . i don't do this for living and it was painted in my mates garage but i am very happy with the finish , its transformed the car and i love it .

it only took 4 working day to do the car , it would have been a shame to scrap such a good car because it looked shabby . it does need more work on the inside( door card switches ) and a new ariel but the hard work has been done .

Well done, should be more people willing to bring cars back to life than just scrap them.

hi , sorry i didn't take any pics off the car when it was rough , lets just say it was many shades of pink with some very careless dints  . it was fun doing the car and i am very happy with the results . the mk2 should now start being saved or they will go the same way of the mk1 with bu88er all left on the road to enjoy and that would be a real shame . the car is now back on the road :D where it should be

Great job, too many classics are being broken for parts because a car in bits is worth so much more than the car as a whole.
